THE SPRING of 2018.

I am looking forward to spring, I cannot tell you how much. I am longing for a natural light, amazing sunsets, and gorgeous blooming backdrops.

If you are planning for the photoshoot and wonder “What should I wear”, please read my step by step guide to help you decide:

  1. Pick neutral pastel colours – they will let the beauty of nature come through. If you love the colour – add a splash of it with a jewellery or a scarf. My favourite shade is white – it has such a nice soft look in the sunset. Choose spring colours, like yellow, blue, green, soft pink.
  2. Girls can wear spring dresses or skirts and jackets, men and boys simple shirts or t-shirts with sweaters.
  3. Wear plain clothes and avoid strong patterns or logos. Let the nature subsidise the textures and patterns.
  4. Avoid matchy matchy – choose 2, 3 colours and share them around – daughter can wear yellow dress, mum can have yellow scarf or jewellery to compliment dad’s grey trousers and son’s grey&yellow t-shirt.
  5. Pick your colours based on what will compliment the colours on your walls so you can hang your photos. These colour palettes (click here) are fashionable this Spring 2018, including classical shades like white and also a lot of playful pastel colours.

What to wear for a Spring Family Photoshoot. Enfield family photographer - colour scheme

  • Let you children know about the upcoming photoshoot. Involve them in the planning from beginning – discuss what to wear for the photoshoot, any activities you would like to capture during the photoshoot or what you are going to do with the photos, wall art or photo albums, once they arrive.
  • My style is lifestyle/documentary – NOT everyone has to be looking and smiling at the camera at the same time. The best photographs are often the ones where everyone is interacting with each other -your eyes will be on your family members and your smile with be natural.  These photographs show connection and love and you will cherish them forever.
  • I will let the children play during the shoot – I usually get some great candid shots and it allows me to capture your children for what they really are.
  • We will play peekaboo, tickle and throw your children in the air to achieve some genuine smiles. Bubbles always go down well.
  • We will walk, you will pose a bit but the plan is to have fun, laugh and joke. Kiss and hug as much as you like and most importantly, be relaxed yourself. Show me who you really are.
  • Go with the flow – regardless of how much you prepare – the opposite will happen. One of the children is bound to have a meltdown. The best is to stay relaxed and have a laugh about it.
  • Bring some snacks and water. And maybe a special treat for the end of the photoshoot.

I cannot wait to meet you.
