How we changed a spare room into our little girl's bedroom.
Whilst I was clearing the spare room, I was doing the Pinterest searching for ideas. There are some, but surprisingly I found not too many I’d like. I really just wanted something simple and girly, but at the same time I was hoping to create a timeless room that she could grow with.
We decided to stick to white walls and turn the main wall pink. The chosen colour was a Pretty Pink from Dulux, bought in B&Q, you can purchase it by clicking here. Obviously you need to buy paint brush, some dust sheets, white spirit and a masking time to go with it. It took about 3 layers to get it to a satisfactory level.
In a meantime we visited Ikea to check out the furniture. We aimed to purchase only a few items as the room is quite small and we did not want to overload it. We ended up buying the Minnen extendable bed frame with slatted bed base (click here to check it out), Omsint Pocket sprung matters to go with it (check it out here) – a perfect option if you are hoping for the bed to last for a little while. We also bought Trofast – storage combination with pink boxes (click here to see it) and Kallax shelving unit ( click here to see it) to store her toys in a very simple easy way – to allow us a quick tidy up. We also purchased an Gimse bed storage box ( click here to see it).
You must order the carpet at least 2-3 weeks in advance, we visited Carpetright to view samples and purchase the carpet. Just to give you an idea of a price, a room of 3×4 metres, with underlay and fitting came to around £300.
And then it was time to buy bedsheets and decoration. We visited Dunelm, B&Q, local shops but I couldn’t quite find something I was happy with so we decided to order some items online.
Glitter unicorn personalised girls name for the door is heavenly, that is my most favourite buy!! (click here to buy it).
We love wooden colourful toys from Melissa & Dough, sold by John Lewis and other retailers (click here to view it), they are perfect for small hands and support the creativity and brain development.
I hope I have helped you with some ideas and good luck creating your little one’s bedroom. I would love to see your creations, so feel free to email me at mirademeterphotography@gmail.com! Good luck xx
